Carers Federation Ltd is a national charity and company limited by guarantee established in 1992 to empower and support unpaid carers, the people for whom they care for and the wider community. The charity is managed by a Board of Trustees elected by our membership.
Carers Federation has successfully been awarded a 3-year contract by Gateshead Council and North East and Cumbria ICB. The service is a new dynamic service providing support to all age caregivers living in Gateshead. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to join Carers Federation, Caregivers Connected team and shape the service into a bespoke and engaging service for all Caregivers in Gateshead.
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to join Carers Federation and be part of the exciting new Caregivers Connected service in Gateshead with specific responsibility for the Adult and Parent Carers offer and working closely with the Young Carers Team Leader and the Team Leader for Core Services.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to supporting Carers and Communities to identify Carers and enable access to Carer support services.
As a key member of the team, you will work alongside the existing Service Manager and have responsibility for the day-to-day line management and organisation of Wellbeing Facilitators to ensure all aspects of the service is delivering to the highest of standards.
Job Role
Working closely with the Service Manager you will focus on supporting your team in their day-to-day roles, ensuring efficiency in the delivery of all aspects of the service, ensuring all people, processes and systems are working together to ensure operational efficiency and quality in the delivery of support to carers particularly through the carers assessment process. These duties will include;
- Provide leadership, to direct, support and supervise the Wellbeing Facilitators.
- Contribute to service team meetings and on occasions wider organisational meetings to share information.
- Link with Health & Social Care professionals, including GP practices and Third Sector organisations, whilst adhering to the local and national Carer Strategy.
- Adhere to local and national safeguarding policies for both Adult and Children.
- Assisting the Service Manager to identify, agree and implement carer operational and service delivery plans, times and agreed targets.
- Contribute to the planning and facilitation of service events and activities to include completion of risk assessments and staffing rota’s.
- Directly support carers as and when required to ensure that a high level of ‘customer service’ is maintained.
- Responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of effective quality assurance systems.
- Contribute to the collation, research and analysis of performance data to produce monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Ensure statistical information is produced, collated and analysed in evaluating the efficiency of the team and to inform resource allocation and service improvements.
- Promote good practice and effective communication within the service and other agencies, on all matters relating to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and contribute to ensuring that issues relating to information-sharing and confidentiality are addressed.
- Undertake any other duties as required, which are commensurate with the grading of the post.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a team leader role with the ability to clearly set direction and manage teams spread across a large geographic area.
- Ability to build strong relationships and team ethos.
- Experience of performance management.
- Good interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent team player able to create a confident culture and working environment that empowers others.
- Previous experience of the Health and Social Care environment.
- Understanding of the Carer’s Assessment processes.
- Able to respond to and be resilient to change.
- Ability to work with and use several IT systems.
