Join our Sporting Memories sessions in Dunston! \nWe offer an age-friendly and dementia-friendly session that welcomes both caregivers and the people they care for to a fun fortnightly session around reminiscing\, replaying and reconnecting with sports. \n  \nThis is a fantastic forum to chat about sport\, covering everything from the Olympic Games to England’s 1966 World Cup victory. \nJoin in the fun and games as we play sports such as boccia and mini golf\, as well as enjoying memory-prompting discussions and sports memorabilia. \n  \nThis week we’re running a ‘Love to Move’ session\, a seated movement and gentle exercise programme developed by the British Gymnastics Foundation\, to improve your physical mobility\, memory\,  cognitive and emotional wellbeing. \n  \nTea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided. \n  \n \n  \nWho is the Sporting Memory group for? \nThe group can be attended by anyone aged 50 and over\, regardless of their condition. We have a team of staff and volunteers here to deliver a fantastic experience to everyone who attends. \n  \nCan I use the group as an opportunity to take a short break from my caring role? \nYes\, our two-hour sessions are perfect for caregivers to take a short break from their caring role by bringing the person they care for to our Sporting Memories session. \n  \nThese sessions are possible thanks to our partnership with national charity Sporting Memories. \n  \nFor more information about the group\, please contact us.

DESCRIPTION:If you care for a child aged 0 to 25 with a disability or long-term illness\, we think you’d love our Parent Carer Connections group! \n  \nWe’re running a 5 week set of advice and information sessions for parent carers. Every Monday we will be meeting at the Metrocentre Community Hub to talk about our experiences as parent carers and find out about what services are available. We have some fantastic guest speakers joining us including the fab folks at Skills for People and AJ’s Brain. \n  \nLocation\nMetrocentre Community Hub\, NE11 9YG\, Gateshead. \nView on Google Maps \n  \nSession Schedule\nOur Parent Carer Connections sessions run weekly\, every Wednesday 1pm – 2:45pm in the Metrocentre Community Hub. The sessions are split into two halves\, the first will see our guest speakers sharing information on support services are out there for you. To get the most out of this opportunity\, we recommend attending every session in our series. We understand that there may be times when you may unable to attend a session due to your caring role. \nCan I join if the child I care for does not have a formal diagnosis? You are more than welcome to come along if the child you care for is still waiting on a diagnosis. \nIs there any car parking available? Yes\, there is free car parking at the Metrocentre. \nWill the sessions be happening again? Yes! We hope to run these sessions again in other parts of Gateshead. \nIs this group for me? Anyone who is a parent carer is welcome to join us.
