Young Carers Action Day 2025

Wednesday 12th March 2025 marks a very special day for the caring community – it’s Young Carers Action Day 2025!

This day celebrates everything that young carers and young adult carers do and helps raise awareness of caring across the UK.

Did you know that there are at least one million young carers aged 17 and under in the UK and over 600,000 young adult carers aged 18 to 25? All of these people are caring for friends and family members with challenging long-term disabilities, illnesses or addiction.

Give me a break!

This year’s theme is ‘Give me a Break‘ which was chosen from a panel made up of hundreds of young carers.

Carers Trust have found that there are around 139,000 children and young people are currently caring for a loved one for over 20 hours every week. Even more shockingly, over 50,000 of them are spending over 50 hours or more every week caring for someone with a long-term illness, disability or addiction. It is clear to see that young carers need a break.

Young carers have so much responsibility on their shoulders, they have little time for themselves which leaves them at serious risk of burnout. They need time from caring to rest, recharge and focus on themselves – a hobby, studying or spending time with friends.
