Volunteering with Caregivers Connected Gateshead

At Caregivers Connected Gateshead we know what a difference volunteering can make to the work we do, the people we work with and to you as the person volunteering their time.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering can be very rewarding. Knowing that you made a difference to someone can be really satisfying and improve your own sense of worth and wellbeing.

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to give back to your community or support a cause that you care about. You can make a real difference in someone else’s life or provide much needed support to the work that we do.

Volunteering is a chance for you to learn new skills, expand your knowledge and experience and build your confidence. It can also be an opportunity for personal and professional growth. It can also help if you’re looking to get in to work.  Once you have volunteered with us for 12 sessions, we can even provide a reference for you C.V.

Volunteering can expose you to new experiences, perspectives, and challenges. You choose the type of opportunity you take up so it can be a chance to try new things, work with new people and communities and broaden your horizons.

Volunteering also allows you to connect with like-minded people who share your values. Building new relationships and friendships is a part of the volunteering experience.

What can you expect from us?

We will support you all the way through your volunteering journey with regular one-to-one contact with our Volunteer Co-ordinator.

Depending on the role, we may need you carry out some training. This could be a short online course or an in-person session with some of our other volunteers. It’s all about making sure you have the skills and knowledge you need to carry out you chosen role. We’ll sit down with you and explain what you need and why.  We will also support you through your training so you’re not on your own.

Don’t forget that volunteering is about you giving up your time to help others so it has to work for you.  If your situation or availability changes do worry. Don’t worry if you think your new role might not be for you. Once you have started to volunteer, we can always support you to find another role with us that suits you better. You haven’t signed up to a lifetime commitment. We will support you to change your role, when you volunteer or stop altogether.  It’s about you and what works best for you.
