Volunteers Week 2025 – My Volunteering Story

Volunteers play a vital role in helping our service to provide the best support we can to unpaid caregivers across Gateshead. As part of Volunteer’s Week 2025, we’re showcasing one of our fabulous volunteer administrators, Aga, and her story on volunteering with Caregivers Connected Gateshead.

Introduce yourself

Hello! My name is Aga and I am volunteering as an Administrator with Caregivers Connected Gateshead. I have been volunteering since April 2025.

Why did you choose to volunteer?

I decided to volunteer because at this stage of my life, my children are now independent and so I have more time for myself. I was looking for a placement where I could refresh and enhance my administrative skills but at the same time, to be able to do something that would benefit others.

How have you found volunteering for us so far?

Volunteering with the Caregivers Connected team has been exactly what I was looking for. I’ve got an amazing opportunity to learn from an experienced and dedicated team of people, who make every effort to help those in need of their support. My time volunteering here has helped me to realise what problems and challenges caregivers are facing and how important it is to provide them with a support system.

On a personal level, volunteering helps me to build my confidence, gives me a sense of contributing to society and allows me to learn in a friendly atmosphere.

We sincerely appreciate Aga’s time, effort and fantastic attitude towards our team!

We’re always looking to recruit new volunteers in a variety of roles! Learn more about our current offer to volunteers on our volunteer roles webpage.
