Celebrating our fantastic team: Volunteers Week 2026

Group of volunteers celebrating at our Volunteers Week party.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do as a charity. Without their dedication, kindness and support, we simply would not be able to provide the service we do to caregivers across Gateshead.

That’s why for Volunteers’ Week 2026, we celebrated our fantastic team and raised awareness of what volunteering with Caregivers Connected Gateshead is all about.

Raising Awareness Across Gateshead

We kicked off the week by starting conversations about volunteering directly into your communities, highlighting what we do and how rewarding volunteering can be.

One of our favourite stops was at Gateshead Leisure Centre, where we had lots of engaging conversations with people who want to make a real positive difference to their community.

We also hit the streets to talk to the public at Trinity Square in Gateshead Town Centre. Our team of volunteers were based at an information staff, sharing their experiences of volunteering with us and our variety of roles with local shoppers. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped and chatted with us, we are delighted that people signing up to join the team!

Whether it’s offering a listening ear as a befriender, helping out at our caregiver groups or assisting with administrative tasks, we are thrilled by the response we got from local people!

Saying a Huge Thank You!

Of course, we couldn’t let the week pass without properly celebrating our volunteers who already give so much to us. In the middle of the week we hosted a thank you party for our fabulous team.

It was an afternoon of laughs, making connections and plenty of well-deserved sweet treats. This was a great opportunity for our a lot of our volunteers to meet each other, relax and celebrate their incredible impact on our charity and Gateshead’s community of unpaid caregivers.
